The side effects you can get from panic disorder drugs are quite frightening to say the least!

The fact is, that most drugs given for panic attacks and disorders are not even designed to cure them, only combat the symptoms.

What exactly do I mean by that? Well, one of the popular drugs (Bets Blockers) doesn't even come near curing panic attacks. It is a drug designed to slow down a rapid heartbeat.

So, you take these drugs, you get hit by a panic attack, the drugs merely slow your heartbeat, or at least stop it from racing out of control.

Will it stop you getting another panic attack? No! Will it merely keep your heart beating slower? Yes.

Most of the drugs given for panic attacks work in a similar way. They mask the symptoms. It's like sticking a bit of gum on a leaking car radiator. Might stop the leak for a bit but as soon as you take it off the leak is there just as bad as before.

Same with these drugs. You may be lucky and be able to mask some of your panic attack symptoms. But stop taking them and BAM! you are back to square one.

Wouldn't you much rather find a cure if possible? Even better find a drug free cure if possible? I think that's a bit of a no brainer.

Some of the side effects of the drugs given as panic disorder treatments are quite frightening. Also bear in mind that any doctor worth his salt will not want to keep you on medication for a panic or anxiety disorder for any prolonged length of time. And when you do come off the drugs it's back to square one. That drug free cure mentioned earlier is looking even more attractive!

Here are a few of the drug types given for anxiety disorder and just a few of their potentially horrid side effects.

Beta Blockers... the beta blocker is prescribed for rapid heartbeat, shaking and general nervousness. A few of the nasty looking side effects are short term memory loss, depression & nightmares.

Antidepressants... the name says it all really. prescribed for all manner of symptoms, not just anxiety disorders and panic attacks. Just some of the potential side effects from these are weight gain, loss of your sex drive, difficulty urinating, disturbed sleep patterns.

I've taken a type of antidepressant myself (suposedly to help me sleep) and they do indeed stop you urinating. In fact they can be prescribed to children to help with bed wetting. I can say from the heart that not being able to pee when you know you want to is enough to bring on a panic attack!

Benzodiazepines... Ok, get this one, the leaflets supplied with some of this type of medication actually says "may cause anxiety", what's that all about? Giving you something that actually might give you anxiety disorders. Unbelievable.

This group of drugs includes the one called Diazepam, which back in the day was called Valium, remember that one? Studies have shown 50% of users that have been taking it for 6 months or more are addicted.

This one is scary all by itself, doesn't need to have any extra side effects but it does. Here are a few... impaired motor function (means you will walk & talk like you are drunk), sexual side effects (whatever they are!), need I go on?
